Dr Matthias Nagl has been awarded the Deutsche Bundesbank prize for the best dissertation for his dissertation "Uncertainty-aware machine learing with applications to credit risk", which he wrote at the Chair of Statistics and Risk Management. The prize of EUR 5,000 was presented by the President of the Head Office of the Deutsche Bundesbank in Bavaria, Mr Reinhold Vollbracht, at this year's graduation ceremony.
In his dissertation, Dr Nagl uses the latest machine learning methods to investigate, among other things, the determinants of the loss rate of companies and advanced methods for replacing missing data.
