The increasing awareness of sustainability, environmental protection and climate change is having a lasting impact on our society. As the Faculty of Business Economics, Economics and Real Estate, we see it as our special responsibility to prioritise these essential topics in research and teaching.

We are convinced that a sustainable economy is the key to a sustainable society. Our faculty is therefore committed to providing students and researchers with comprehensive information and skills on the economic, social and ecological dimensions of sustainability. We develop innovative teaching methods and practice-orientated research projects that offer concrete solutions to global and local challenges.

Sustainability at the centre of research

Our research projects on sustainable management, the circular economy and social justice set standards and contribute to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  • TheInstitute of Business Administration deals with topics such as sustainability reporting, sustainable financing and sustainable technology management.
  • Our Institute of Economics examines, for example, the design of sustainability-promoting institutions and the factors that determine the ethical and sustainable behaviour of individuals.
  • The Institute of Real Estate Economics researches, among other things, how the carbon footprint of properties can be monitored and managed.

Together, all institutes are committed to ensuring that findings and innovations have an impact far beyond the academic community and contribute to the sustainable transformation of the economy and society.

Sustainability at the centre of teaching

By anchoring sustainable thinking and action in the education of our students, we make a significant contribution to a fairer and more environmentally friendly world. The specialisations "Sustainable Business" and "Sustainability" in the Faculty's business administration and economics degree programmes play a key role in this.
