One focus of the Chair of Real Estate Finance in research and teaching is the characteristics of real estate as an asset class. In addition to direct investments, this includes in particular indirect investments via open-ended property funds or real estate stock corporations or REITs. Another focus is on the financing of real estate investments and their securitisation.

Centre of Finance at the University of Regensburg

The Centre of Finance at the University of Regensburg is a joint initiative of the institutes of the Faculty of Economics. Through the interaction of the various specialisations, financial problems are investigated using methods from business administration, economics and business informatics. The Centre of Finance concentrates its research in four clusters: Risk Management & Derivatives, Private Finance, Real Estate & Capital Markets and Financial Services & IT.

Property and capital markets" research network

Prof Dr Steffen Sebastian is the spokesperson for the "Research Network "Real Estate and Capital Markets" at the University of Regensburg", a joint initiative of the Faculties of Law, Economics and Real Estate with the participation of members of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Physics. The combination of the different disciplines offers the opportunity to investigate the mechanisms of action and the regulatory framework of the property and capital markets as well as their interrelationships on as broad a basis as possible.
