How do I get a library card?

Students of the University of Regensburg
The Student ID is also your library card.


University and hospital staff
Please complete the Library card application for employees (accessible only within the university network and only in German) and attach your employment contract. Civil servants include the accompanying letter of their certificate.
The library card will be sent by in-house mail.


External users
External users, for example OTH members, pupils and other interested persons, are kindly asked to complete the Application for a library card for external users .
The library card is free of charge.
We will inform you about the collection.


Companies and institutions

A library card can be issued upon presenting a confirmation letter. Please find out in advance what information is required: phone 0941 943-3944 or e-mail ausweis.ub@ur.de


Please inform us immediately about your address change or the loss of your library card.

How do I log in to my account?

To order media and view your account, log in to the catalog under "Login" in the top right corner.
Students and staff of the University of Regensburg log in using their CC account.

External users log in using the library number on their library card and their password. If you are logging in for the first time or have forgotten your password, click "Create new Password" in the login window. You will receive an e-mail to change your password. You can change your password at any time in your account in the library catalog under "Profile".


I've forgotten my password. What to do?

Students and staff of the University of Regensburg: please contact the Computer Center if you have forgotten your password for your CC account.

External users: select "Login for external users" and click on "Create new Password". Enter your library number and select "Create new Password". You will receive an e-mail with a link to create a new password.


My library card is blocked. What does that mean?

There are several reasons why your library card may be blocked:

  • Your library card has expired. It is valid for a limited period of time and must be renewed after expiration.
  • The loan period of your borrowed items has expired or you have not yet paid your reminder.
  • Mail sent to you by the University Library has been returned as undeliverable.

How can I renew my library card?

External users: To renew your library card please come to the information desk in the Information Center (opening hours) with your ID card and your library card.

A renewal by e-mail is also possible. Please contact: ausweis.ub@ur.de


University employees who wish to renew their library card should come to the Information Center with their library card and their current employment contract. Our library card team will take care of your request.
Employees can also renew their library card by e-mail (ausweis.ub@ur.de). Please attach the page of your employment contract with your name and the current duration.


I lost my library card. What can I do?

Please send an e-mail to ausweis.ub@ur.de to have your library card blocked.


Can I use the library without a library card?

Books in our reading rooms are freely accessible and can be used on site.

With our book scanners you can scan for free and save scans to your own USB stick.

For copying, you can use the copy center in the Central Library. Please note the opening hours.

If you need books from our stacks, please contact us by e-mail a few days before your visit, so we can have them ready for you at the information desk.
If you frequently need media from the University Library, please apply for a library card. With your own library card, you can order media via the Library Catalog. This only applies to persons residing in Germany.
