With its twelve faculties, it has a broad variety of disciplines with an excellent research spectrum, an attractive range of courses and a high sense of social responsibility. The UR stands for diversity, an open-minded approach to the world, and shaping the future.
The UR - efficient, future-orientated and cosmopolitan
Sixty years after its founding, the University of Regensburg is well positioned in terms of research, teaching and knowledge transfer. 23,000 people from over 100 countries study, research, teach and work together on our campus. At the University of Regensburg, we understand cosmopolitanism and diversity as the starting point and prerequisite for free and knowledge-oriented science. With its self-image as a transnational forum, UR has a strong appeal both nationally and internationally.

Responsibility as a task
It is the task of our university community to research and teach responsibly and to pursue the major questions and issues of our time and the future. Our researchers are committed to shaping the future of our society in a science-led manner and are involved in current public discourse on a scientific basis and with sound findings and perspectives.
Change, responsibility and transfer
At their core and in their self-image, science and universities thrive on change, openness and transformation and are therefore per se nuclei for future-oriented change and reorganisation. Through our research-based teaching, we empower young people to think independently, scrutinise critically and act reflectively - thus placing the future of all of us in responsible hands. With an overarching understanding of third mission and knowledge transfer, we are committed to making the people associated with us and our society fit for the future and making our contribution to greater diversity and sustainability.
