General information

Course Offerings

The courses offered by the Chair reflects a modern and relatively quantitatively approach to finance. The courses and seminars cover both, corporate finance—focusing on investment, financing decisions, as well as company valuation—and financial risk management as practiced by banks and insurance companies, but increasingly also by non-financial corporations to ensure long-term viability.

In the Bachelor's degree program, the Chair is represented by the Financing course in study phase I and the Corporate Finance course in phase 2.

In the Master's degree program, more specialised courses are offered within the areas of finance and quantitative finance.

The teaching is embedded and closely linked to the Chair's research activities and combines a solid theoretical foundation with a strong focus on long-term practical relevance.

Learning Objectives

Students are expected to become familiar with, evaluate, and apply a broad range of financial instruments. This goes is closely linked to the development of quantitative skills, with a particular emphasis on practical implementation using computer-based tools.

Interdisciplinary connections with subjects such as statistics, financial services, and econometrics are explicitly encouraged. Graduates will acquire the analytical and technical competencies needed to succeed both in financial institutions and in corporate finance functions such as treasury, controlling, and risk management.

Recognition of credits from other universities

Students who have completed courses at universities in Germany or abroad as part of their degree program may apply to have these courses to be credited.
