Scripture Visualized in Medieval Jewish and Christian Life (Seminar with Excursion to Mainz, Speyer and Worms)

Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site in a joint seminar by Prof. Dr. Laura Lieber (DIMAS, UR) and Prof. Dr. Claudia Bergmann (Uni Paderborn). During our days of intensive time together, we will visit historic synagogues, churches, cemeteries, and museums, and we will pay particular attention to how Jews and Christians visualized their shared biblical heritage in buildings, texts, and objects—items which reflected their identity to themselves and expressed it to each other. It will be a unique and uniquely rewarding experience for any student interested in medieval life and Jewish history in Germany.... more
